We have compiled books for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 tours that include a history of the persons met on that tour. Each book is over 150 pages, which include a short history of each subject, obituaries, photos, articles, etc. They are available for sale by contacting the cemetery office. We held tours in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and are presently working on the tour for 2010, scheduled for August 19-20. The theme will be Civil War veterans. A large number of war veterans journeyed to Northern Michigan to begin a new life on property obtained via the Homestead Act. The War ended in 1965 and Petoskey received its first influx of people in 1873. If you have information on family members who were affected by the Civil War we would like to consider that information for inclusion in either the book or the tour.

Please be advised that this is a walking tour. You should plan on walking a mile over a period of an hour. There will be golf carts available during each tour for approximately 12 people who cannot walk the entire tour. You will need to specify this option when signing up for the tour. In previous tours we turned people away that desired this service. It is planned that all of the tour will be held outside this year. Please be prepared for all types of weather. We are trying to make other arrangements in case of rain but because of the time commitments of so many actors and volunteers the tour cannot be postponed.
